Trucker ToolsLoad Track FAQs

Carriers, Carrier Dispatchers and Drivers:

Using Load Track, the driver can track the load that he is hauling for the broker, shipper or carrier dispatcher. The driver decides when to start and end the track and the brokers, shipper or carrier dispatcher will see the route maps with the location points for that route. The driver is always in control.
The Broker or Shipper will enter the Load details on our website along with the Carrier Dispatcher’s email. The Carrier Dispatcher will receive an email with the Load Track request and a link to add or update the Driver’s cell phone. The Carrier Dispatcher will add the Driver’s cell phone using the link in the email. A text message will be sent to the Driver with the Load Track request. If the Driver doesn’t have the Trucker Tools app on his smart phone, he needs to download the Trucker Tools app. When the Driver picks up the load, he needs to open the Trucker Tools app and click the Load Track button and start the corresponding Load Track. When the load is delivered, the driver will click the End Track button to end the load Track. Emails and optional text messages will be sent to the Carrier Dispatcher and Broker when the driver starts and ends the Load Track. The Driver decides when to start and end the Load Track and he is always in control.

No. Your phone is not tracked without your permission. You, as the driver, will start and end the Load Track when you pick up and deliver the load. The app starts the track only when you click the Start button for a Load Track and ends when you click the End or Pause button. The app will not track your location during other times and NEVER without your permission. With Load Track, you, the Driver, are always in control.
Yes. You need to have a data plan on your phone to use Load Track and Trucker Tools App.
No. Load Track uses only a very minor fraction of your data plan.
No. Unlike other GPS tracking products, we have optimized Load Track to only use a very small fraction of your battery.
Yes. You need to turn ON the GPS setting on your smart phone to use Load Track.
Load Track is very accurate. The location points are accurate within a few feet. The GPS on the driver’s cell phone may impact the accuracy of the location points. Some areas of the country have weaker cell phone coverage which could affect the accuracy.
Yes. Load Track will still track his location if he is in the 4G coverage area and if his smart phone allows it. Some older smart phones will not allow the tracking when the user is talking on the phone. In any case, the app will continue to track after the driver hangs up the phone call. Again, the app will only track if the driver starts the Load Track and continues to track until the driver ends the track. The driver controls when to start and end the track.
Yes. You can use the Trucker Tools App as normal. Load Track runs in the background. Load Track tracks your location ONLY when you start a Load Track and UNTIL you end the Load Track. You, the driver, are always in control.
No. You don’t need to keep the Trucker Tools App open to track a load. The app will track even when the Trucker Tools app is closed, or sent to background or when the phone is locked. The app will track as long as the phone is NOT switched off. Of course, you can continue to use the Trucker Tools app for other things such as finding a truck stop, see routing, check weather, etc. Load Track will be in the background and will NOT interfere with you normal usage of the Trucker Tools app.
No problem. Just start the phone as you charge it. There is no need for you to launch the Trucker Tools app or do anything with Load Track. When your phone re-starts, the app will automatically restart tracking the load. Note: Load Track cannot track the location points when your phone is switched off (or powered down or in airplane mode).
Do nothing. The Trucker Tools app will automatically restart the Load Track.
Pause track button will pause (stop) the track and should be used when you take the regulated break. A paused Load Track can be re-started. End track will end (stop) the track and set the status of the Load Track as completed and should be used only when the load has been delivered. A completed Load Track cannot be restarted. When the driver ends the Load Track an email and an optional text message will be sent to the broker and the carrier dispatcher notifying that the Load Track has been completed along with the link to the route map.
The following people will see the route map:
a) The broker, shipper or carrier dispatcher who create the Load Track request for the load.
b) Carrier dispatcher
c) If you have sent the route map to other interested parties, they will see the route map.
Again, these people will see the route map for ONLY that Load Track. They can’t see your other Load Tracks.
If you are driver and want to send the route map to someone, you can do so using the “Send Route” button on the Active Load Track. Just enter the email address on the Send Route form and they will get an email with the link to that route. They will only see the route map for that route and not for other routes.
Yes. You can update the driver’s cell phone for a Load Track as long as the Load Track has not been started by the driver. To update driver’s cell phone, please click the link in the Load Track request email that you have received and enter the new driver’s cell phone number. When you update the driver’s cell phone for a Load Track, the Load Track will be removed from the first driver’s phone and a text message will be sent to the new driver with the Load Track request. The new driver needs to start the Load Track on his smart phone.
No. The broker or shipper will not see the driver’s cell phone.
If your driver forgets to start the Load Track on his phone for a couple of hours until after the scheduled pickup time of the Load Track, you (Carrier Dispatcher) will receive an email notifying that the driver has not started the Load Track. At that point, you can alert the driver to start the Load Track. If the driver fails to start the Load Track within 24 hours of the scheduled pickup time of the Load Track, the Load Track will be automatically canceled by our system and a notification will be sent to the broker. Once a Load Track has been canceled, it cannot be started. The broker or shipper has to post another Load Track.
If your driver forgets to end (or stop) the Load Track on his phone, we will send an email to the requestor 4 hours after the scheduled delivery time asking you to alert the driver. Also, we will send a notification to the driver alerting him to end the Load Track if he has reached the destination.
There are three ways to cancel a Load Track. As long as the driver has not started the Load Track, it can be canceled by:
a) The broker or shipper who created the Load Track request using our websites that they used to post the Load Track request.
b) The carrier dispatcher can cancel the Load Track using the link in the Load Track request email that he has received.
c) Our automated system. If a Load Track has not been started by the driver within 24 hours of the pickup time, the system will automatically cancel the Load Track and notify the broker who created the Load Track.
Once the driver starts a Load Track, it cannot be canceled.
If the Load Track has not been started by the driver, you can change the driver for the Load Track using the link in the Load Track request email that you have received. However, if the driver has started the Load Track, he has to move the track to another driver using the Trucker Tools app on his phone. The driver needs to use the "Re-Assign Track" feature in the Load Track. To re-assign the track, the driver needs to launch the Trucker Tools app on his phone and click the Load Track button on the dashboard. On the Load Track screen, he needs to select the active Load Tracks and scroll down. Click the Re-Assign button and enter the new driver’s cell phone number on the Re-Assign Track page. A text message will be sent to the new driver and the new driver needs to download the Trucker Tools app on his smart phone and start the Load Track. Once the first driver re-assigns an Active Load Track, it will be removed from that driver’s phone.
The Brokers or Shipper who entered the Load Track request pays for it.
$1 per Load Track.
