Where’s the Freight? Dodge City, Rapid City, Texarkana, Brooklyn and Tucson To See High Demand in Coming Week

Welcome to the Friday edition of Where’s the Freight?,” Trucker Tools’ free freight forecast for trucking companies and owner operators. In this and every edition of “Where’s the Freight?,” you’ll learn where demand and rates are likely to be high and low over the next five to seven day period. Armed with this vital information, you can maximize your profit marginsby prioritizing loads to/from markets that are expected to see high demand and minimize your losses by avoiding loads in markets where demand and rates are projected to be low. This week, you can expect Dodge City, Kan., to remain a hot spot for reefer freight, while Hartford, Conn., will continue to see extremely low demand (and rates) for reefer. If you run power only, you’ll want to keep an eye on Brooklyn, N.Y., this week, as power only demand is projected to increase there. Over the next week, you also can expect to see demand for flatbed capacity increase for Yakima, Wash., Huntington, W.Va. and Southwestern Ontario.

Where Demand and Rates Are Likely To Be High or Rising
Flatbed demand and rates to/from Rapid
City, S.D., and Texarkana, Texas, will be relatively high this week. Demand for
flatbed capacity inbound to and outbound from Yakima, Wash., Huntington, W.Va.,
and Southwestern Ontario is likely to rise over the coming week.
Reefer demand and rates for Dodge City,
Kan., and Tucson, Ariz., will remain elevated over the next five to seven day
period. Reefer demand to/from Tucson, Ariz., also is projected to increase this
week.
Power only demand and rates inbound to
and outbound from Brooklyn, N.Y., are likely to be relatively high in the coming
week. Power only demand to/from Denver is expected to increase, as well.
Where Demand and Rates Are Likely To Be Low or Falling
Reefer demand to/from Hartford, Conn., Eastern
Ontario, Billings, Mont., and Pittsburgh will be extremely low in the coming week.
Power only demand and rates for Cedar
Rapids, Iowa, and Savannah, Ga., are projected to decline over the next five to
seven days.

This week, the five most profitable markets likely will be: 1. Dodge City, Kan. (reefer), 2. Rapid City, S.D. (flatbed), 3. Texarkana, Texas (flatbed), 4. Brooklyn, N.Y. (power only), and 5. Tucson, Ariz. (reefer).
The five least profitable markets likely will be: 1. Hartford, Conn. (reefer), 2. Eastern Ontario (reefer), 3. Billings, Mont. (reefer), 4. Yakima, Wash. (flatbed), and 5. Pittsburgh (reefer).
This week, the inbound Texarkana, Texas, flatbed market will favor truckers and carriers by two to one, meaning for each flatbed headed into the region, there should be at least two loads available.
