Looking ahead to the coming week, you once again can expect reefer demand for Dodge City, Kan., to remain high. In fact, the Dodge City, Kan., reefer market has appeared in our Top Five Hottest Markets list for the last 10 consecutive weeks. If you run flatbed, you’ll want to keep an eye on Yakima, Wash., this week, as demand for capacity flatbed there is projected to increase in the coming week. You also can expect to see relatively high demand for power only capacity to/from Birmingham, Ala., this week, while power only demand is projected to increase this week for Brooklyn, N.Y., Denver and San Francisco.

Where Demand and Rates Are Likely To Be High or Rising
Flatbed demand and rates to/from Rapid
City, S.D., and Texarkana, Texas, will remain relatively high over the next
week. Demand for flatbed capacity inbound to and outbound from Yakima, Wash., and
Huntington, W.Va., is projected to increase this week.
Reefer demand and rates for Dodge City,
Kan., and Corpus Christi, Texas, will be elevated in the next five to seven days.
Power only demand and rates inbound to
and outbound from Birmingham, Ala., are expected to be somewhat high in the coming
week. Power only demand to/from Brooklyn, N.Y., Denver and San Francisco is likely
to rise this week.
Where Demand and Rates Are Likely To Be Low or Falling
Flatbed demand and rates inbound to and outbound from Edmonton, Alberta, are projected to decrease this week.
Reefer demand and rates to/from Billings, Mont., and Hartford, Conn., will continue to be extremely low over the next week.
Power only demand and rates for Toledo, Ohio, are expected to decline in the next five to seven days. Power only demand to/from New Castle, Del., is likely to decrease in the coming week.

This week, the five best markets for truckers likely will be: 1. Dodge City, Kan. (reefer), 2. Rapid City, S.D. (flatbed), 3. Texarkana, Texas (flatbed), 4. Birmingham, Ala. (power only), and 5. Corpus Christi, Texas (reefer).
The five worst marketsfor truckers likely will be: 1. Billings, Mont. (reefer), 2. Brooklyn, N.Y. (power only), 3. Toledo, Ohio (power only), 4. Hartford, Conn. (reefer), and 5. Yakima, Wash. (flatbed).
This week, demand for reefer capacity for Dodge City, Kan., will be six times higher than it was during the same week last year.
In the coming week, the inbound Texarkana, Texas, flatbed market will favor carriers and owner operators by more three to one, meaning for each flatbed trailer headed into the region, there should be at least three loads available.
