Where’s the Freight? Cape Girardeau, Texarkana, Tucson, Chicago and Portland To See High Demand for Truck Capacity Over Next Week

Happy Friday, truckers, and welcome to your end of week edition of “Where’s the Freight?,” Trucker Tools’ free freight forecast for fleets and owner operators. In this and every edition of “Where’s the Freight?,” you’ll discover where demand and rates for flatbed, reefer, power only and dry van capacity will be highest and lowest across the United States and Canada over the next week.
In the coming
week, demand for power only capacity will continue to be high inbound to and
outbound from Cape Girardeau, Mo., which once again claims the number one spot
in today’s Top Five Hottest Markets list. This week also will see an
increase in demand for flatbed capacity for Regina, Saskatchewan, and
Texarkana, Texas. Once again, Montreal, Quebec, is projected to see extremely
low demand for reefer capacity, while Tucson, Ariz., will be a hot spot for
reefer loads in the coming week. If you run dry van, you can expect to see a
moderate increase in demand and rates to/from Gary, Ind., over the next five to
seven day period.

Where Demand
and Rates Will Be High or Rising This Week
Flatbed demand and rates for Texarkana,
Texas, are projected to be high. Flatbed demand to/from Texarkana, Texas, and
Regina, Saskatchewan, is likely to rise.
Reefer demand and rates for Tucson,
Ariz., likely will be high.
Power only demand and rates for Cape
Girardeau, Mo., Chicago and Portland, Ore., are expected to be high. Power only
demand to/from New Castle, Del., and Norfolk, Va., is likely to increase.
Dry van demand and rates to/from Gary,
Ind., are projected to increase.
Where Demand
and Rates Will Be Low or Falling This Week
Flatbed demand and rates for Fargo, N.D.,
and Minot, N.D., will be very low.
Reefer demand and rates for Montreal,
Quebec, Billings, Mont., and Pittsburgh are expected to be extremely low.
Power only demand and rates inbound to
and outbound from San Diego and Portland, Maine, are likely to decline.

The five hottest (highest demand) freight markets this week: 1. Cape Girardeau, Mo. (power only), 2. Texarkana, Texas (flatbed), 3. Tucson, Ariz. (reefer), 4. Chicago (power only), and 5. Portland, Ore. (power only).
The five coldest (lowest demand) freight markets this week: 1. Montreal, Quebec (reefer), 2. Pittsburgh (reefer), 3. Billings, Mont. (reefer), 4. Fargo, N.D. (flatbed), and 5. Minot, N.D. (flatbed).
The latest Fruit and Vegetable Truck Rate Report from the USDA finds capacity shortages in Central and Southern Florida, the Florida West and South Carolina district, and Eastern North Carolina. Slight capacity shortages are being reported in Colorado’s San Luis Valley and Georgia.
This week, the Texarkana, Texas, flatbed market will favor fleets and drivers by three to one.
According to trucking insurer Travelers Cos., pilferage (theft of partial loads) now outpaces theft of entire loads, with high-end electronics and firearms most often targeted by thieves.
The Cape Girardeau, Mo.,power only market will favor carriers and owner operators by more than two to one in the coming week.
