As we look ahead to this first full week of 2023, you can expect demand and rates for power only capacity inbound to and outbound from San Diego to be extremely high. Reefer demand to/from Tucson, Ariz., and Texarkana, Texas, will be very strong in the week ahead, as well. Over the next week, demand for flatbed capacity for Decatur, Ala., is projected to increase significantly, while the Minot, N.D., flatbed market likely will be the coldest freight market in the United States and Canada.
– Flatbed demand and rates for Little Rock, Ark., are projected to be high. Flatbed demand for Decatur, Ala., is expected to increase.
– Reefer demand and rates for Tucson, Ariz., Texarkana, Texas, and Jonesboro, Ark., are likely to be very high. Reefer demand for Fayetteville, Ark., Decatur, Ala., and Texarkana, Texas, is projected to rise.
– Power only demand and rates for San Diego are likely to be extremely high. Power only demand for Fort Wayne, Ind., is likely to increase.
– Flatbed demand and rates for Minot, N.D., and Boston will be extremely low. Flatbed demand for Gary, Ind., is expected to decline.
– Reefer demand and rates for Hartford, Conn., and Vancouver, British Columbia, are projected to be low.
– Power only demand and rates for Fort Worth, Texas, are expected to be very low.
– Five Hottest Markets this week: 1. San Diego (power only), 2. Tucson, Ariz. (reefer), 3. Little Rock, Ark. (flatbed), 4. Texarkana, Texas (reefer), and 5. Jonesboro, Ark. (reefer).
– Five Coldest Markets this week: 1. Minot, N.D. (flatbed), 2. Fort Worth, Texas (power only), 3. Hartford, Conn. (reefer), 4. Vancouver, British Columbia (reefer), and 5. Boston (flatbed).
– Market To Watch: Over the next week, demand for power only capacity inbound to and outbound from San Diego is projected to be eight times higher than it was during the same week in 2022.
– This week, demand for flatbed capacity inbound to and outbound from Decatur, Ala., is projected to increase significantly.
– Yesterday the Department of Energy’s average retail diesel price increased to $4.583/gallon after seven weeks of declines.
– December data from the Logistics Managers’ Index indicates that transportation pricing declined last month at the fastest rate recorded in six years.
