Last week, we rolled out the new version of our free Trucker Tools driver app to close to 900,000 truckers across the country. This latest release of the Trucker Tools driver app focuses on improving the user experience for truckers, as well as ease of use. Our driver app has all of the same features and tools that truckers love and that you rely upon for load tracking, posting loads and communicating with truckers.
Putting real-time information at the fingertips of carriers is particularly important during the COVID-19 pandemic, as truckers try to stay updated on the latest industry news. That’s why we’ve added a COVID-19 Resource section to the driver app that includes up to date information from shippers, brokers, 3PLs and other sources. Read on to learn more about this new resource for truckers and some of the design changes we’ve made in this latest update to the Trucker Tools driver app.
If you’re like most brokers, you’ve had to rethink how you run your business because of the pandemic. All or some of your staff members may now be working from home, which fundamentally changes your internal workflows, processes, and operations. Brokers and 3PLs each are taking a different approach to adapt to the day-to-day challenges that the pandemic presents.
To help carriers stay up to date on all of the various procedural changes that brokerages and 3PLs are instituting in response to the virus, we’ve created a COVID-19 resource center in the Trucker Tools driver app. The resource center with updates from brokers, 3PLs, shippers, truck stops and other sources. Our goal is to make it easy for truckers to quickly view updates and changes that may immediately impact their day-to-day operations. These updates include info on bonuses, policy changes, check fees and which services are available at truck stops. Trucker Tools will continue to update this information as it becomes available to us.
The way that the Trucker Tools driver app’s load tracking tool functions remain unchanged. What’s different in the updated version of the driver app is that we’ve redesigned our load tracking tool to be easier than ever for truckers to use. Truckers can now easily access reload, routing and document scan features right from the load tracking screen. We’ve also made it simple for them to see all of the load tracking information they need on a single screen.
As you know, many carriers are concerned about freight tracking transparency and privacy. In a recent Trucker Tools survey, 55 percent of the carriers who responded revealed that they’re reluctant to use load tracking solutions because of privacy-related concerns. Others told us that they are frustrated when freight tracking solutions don’t reduce the number of check calls they receive. The good news is that in the latest version of the Trucker Tools driver app, Trucker Tools continues to provide transparency to truckers around load tracking. Truckers still receive a smartphone notification every time load tracking is on. The notification includes the name of the broker receiving the data and the details on the associated load.
You can view real-time load tracking information either directly in your transportation management system or in Trucker Tools’ Smart Capacity digital freight tracking platform. We ping the trucker’s cell phone for a GPS-based location update every five minutes so that you always know where that truck and its freight is located. Because Trucker Tools’ real-time load tracking is reliable and accurate, you make fewer check-calls, which benefits you and your carrier partners.
One of the challenges you face in your brokerage is how to maintain efficiency with all or part of your workforce working remotely. Your employees likely don’t have the same tools, software, and equipment available at home that they do at your office. You can increase operational efficiency by automating capacity searches and bookings with Trucker Tools digital freight matching and Book-It-Now.
With Trucker Tools’ digital freight matching platform, you can quickly search for truck capacity within your carrier network. Trucker Tools matches your open loads with trucks in your network, which means no more phone calls and emails to and from carrier dispatchers. If you list your open loads as Book-It-Now loads in Trucker Tools’ digital freight marketplace, your preferred carriers can find and even book your loads directly through the Trucker Tools driver app — no manual communications needed. The efficiency you gain from automating these processes provides you with more time for shipper service and business development, which is critical during these challenging times.
