- Demand for flatbed will be highin the coming week for Rapid City, S.D., Grand Junction, Colo., Jonesboro, Ark., and Cheyenne, Wyo. Flatbed demand is expected to rise in and out of Erie, Penn., and Memphis, Tenn., over the next five to seven days.
- Tucson, Ariz., will continue to be the best reefer market in the country for truckers over the next week.
- Demand for power only will be rising over the next five to seven days for Tulsa, Okla., and Norfolk, Va.
- You’ll also see rising demand for van capacity in and out of Central Ontario (Canada).
Where Demand for Trucks Will Be Falling
- Expect low demand for flatbed capacity in and out of Washington D.C. this week. Demand for flatbed will fall this week for St. Louis.
- Reno, Nev., and Hartford, Conn., will continue to be two of the coldest reefer markets in the country for truckers.
- Demand for power only capacity in and out of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Bloomington, Ill., is projected to be low over the next five to seven day period. Demand for power only in and out of Jacksonville, Fla., will decrease this week, as well.

- Based on the most recent transaction data from Trucker Tools’ software platforms, the five hottest markets for truckers over the next week will be Rapid City, S.D. (flatbed), Tucson, Ariz. (reefer), Grand Junction, Colo. (flatbed), Jonesboro, Ark. (flatbed), and Cheyenne, Wyo. (flatbed).
- Demand for flatbed capacity in and out of Erie, Penn., currently is double what it was at this time last year.
- Single-family home construction is up 29 percent over last year. This increase is, in part, driving higher than normal flatbed volume and demand.
- The Arctic polar vortex that hit the Midwest and Southern United States this week is pushing up spot rates in many markets.
- Spot market volumes are the highest they’re ever been and spot market volume is more than double what it was a year ago.
