familiar names and some new lanes in our hot and cold markets listings.
We’re heading into the final days of 2020 and the holiday season is upon us.
With volumes at ports increasing as well, spot rates are headed up, up, up in
many areas.

flatbed markets for the next five to seven days will be Cheyenne,
Wyo.; Ithaca, N.Y.; Des Moines, Iowa; and Minot, N.D.
- Rates and demand for reefer are predicted to be high over the next week for
Tucson, Ariz.; Dodge City, Kan.; Savannah, Ga.; and Yakima, Wash.
- Our Market Index also shows that these regions will be
hot for power-only in the next week: Decatur, Ala., and Twin Falls,
S.D.

Washington, D.C.; Duluth, Minn., Calgary, Alberta (Canada); Springfield,
Mass.; Montgomery, Ala.; and Jonesboro, Ark.

Flagstaff, Ariz., over the next week.

Trucker Tools’ Market Insights
- BorgWarner, a worldwide automotive components and parts supplier, and Siemens, a manufacturer of everything from security systems and power systems to cranes and aquaculture systems, are both headquartered in Ithaca, N.Y., which may be responsible for high flatbed demand in the coming week in the area.
- Savannah, Ga.,
will be one of the hottest reefer markets in the country in the
coming week. Savannah is the third-largest container gateway in the
country and one of the fastest growing ports in the nation. Drug
manufacturers AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Endo Pharmaceuticals and Sanofi also
have manufacturing facilities in Savannah, which is likely contributing to
high demand for reefer truck capacity in the area.
- Both Pfizer and AstraZeneca have developed COVID-19
vaccines, which may further impact demand for reefer, since
both vaccines need to be stored at cold temps.
- Demand for flatbed in Cheyenne, Wyo.,
remains elevated and likely will continue to stay high into the end of the
month.
- Rates for reefer in Dodge City, Kan., continue
to be elevated and favor truckers and carriers. Current reefer demand for
Dodge City is nearly three times what it was at this time last year.
Today’s SONAR Insights
Trucker Tools has joined forces with FreightWaves SONAR to give you even more info on which markets you should be setting your sights on and which ones you should avoid. Yesterday afternoon, FreightWaves reported that national outbound tender rejections continue to hover around 25 percent, but expect outbound tender rejection rates to reach near 30 percent as we approach the Christmas holiday. The West Coast currently has the lowest regional tender rejection rate at about 20 percent. Houston, Boston, Baltimore and Joliet, Ill., are some of the markets with the highest tender rejection rates and volumes, making them good markets for truckers.
