Happy Friday and welcome to your end-of-week edition of “Where’s the Freight?,” your go-to source for finding out where demand and rates will be highest and lowest over the next week. Looking ahead to the next five to seven day period, you can expect reefer demand to remain high in several key markets. In fact, the Dodge City, Kan., reefer market snags the number one spot in today’s Top Five Hottest Markets list. Other regions where you can expect to see high or increasing demand/rates include San Diego, New Castle, Del., and Grand Rapids, Mich. On the other side of the coin, the Rochester, N.Y., flatbed market is projected to see the lowest demand and rates across the United States and Canada this week.

Where Demand
and Rates Will Be Highest or Rising This Week
Flatbed demand and rates for Texarkana,
Texas, are projected to be high. Demand for flatbed capacity to/from Dodge
City, Kan., is expected to increase.
Reefer demand and rates for Dodge City,
Kan., Texarkana, Texas, and Tucson, Ariz., will be very high. Demand for reefer
capacity to/from Texarkana, Texas, and Tucson, Ariz., is likely to rise.
Power only demand and rates for San Diego
are projected to be relatively high. Power only demand to/from New Castle,
Del., and Portland, Ore., likely will increase.
Where Demand
and Rates Will Be Lowest or Falling This Week
Flatbed demand and rates for Rochester,
N.Y., will be extremely low.
Reefer demand and rates for Minot, N.D., Pittsburgh,
Reno, Nev., and Tallahassee, Fla., are projected to be very low.
Power only demand and rates for Milwaukee,
Wisc., and San Francisco are expected to decline.

Five Coldest Markets this week: 1. Rochester, N.Y. (flatbed), 2. Minot, N.D. (reefer), 3. Pittsburgh (reefer), 4. Reno, Nev. (reefer), and 5. Tallahassee, Fla. (reefer).
This week, demand for power only capacity inbound to and outbound from New Castle, Del., is projected to increase and be seven times higher than it was during the same week last year.
Market To Watch: In the coming week, San Diego’s power only market will favor fleets and owner ops by approximately two one, meaning there should be two loads available for every trailer headed into or out of the area.
Over the next week, demand for flatbed capacity inbound to and outbound from Rochester, N.Y., will be 66 percent lower than it was during the same week in 2021.
