High Demand Markets To Target in the Coming Week
- Erie, Pa., is expected to be the highest demand flatbed market over the next week. Demand for flatbed capacity is projected to increase this week to/from Jonesboro, Ark., and Cleveland, Ohio.
- Spokane, Wash., will be the most profitable reefer market in North America for truckers and carriers over the next five to seven days. Reefer demand to/from Medford, Ore., is projected to increase this week.
- Demand for power only capacity to/from Nashville, Tenn., is likely to rise over the next week.
- Wichita, Kan., Shreveport, La., and Jonesboro, Ark., are expected to be most profitable dry van markets in the coming week, while dry van demand to/from Montreal, Quebec will be on the rise.
Low Demand Markets To Avoid This Week
- Demand/rates for flatbed loads running to/from Phoenix, Ariz., and Charleston, S.C., will be low this week.
- Pendleton, Ore., and Tallahassee, Fla., will be the lowest-demand markets for reefer over the coming five to seven days. Demand/rates for reefer capacity will decrease this week for Syracuse, N.Y.
- You may want to avoid taking dry van loads into Pendleton, Ore., this week, as it also is projected to be the dry van market with the lowest demand in North America.

- Today’s Trucker Tools’ data shows that the top five markets for truckers and carriers this week will be: 1. Erie, Pa. (flatbed), 2. Wichita, Kan. (dry van), 3. Spokane, Wash. (reefer), 4. Shreveport, La. (dry van), and 5. Jonesboro, Ark. (dry van).
- The bottom five markets for truckers and carriers will be: 1. Pendleton, Ore. (reefer), 2. Phoenix, Ariz. (flatbed), 3. Tallahassee, Fla. (reefer), 4. Charleston, S.C. (flatbed), and 5. Pendleton, Ore. (dry van).
- Railway and transit manufacturer Wabtec Corporation has a manufacturing facility in Erie, Pa., which is expected to be the best flatbed market for truckers this week.
- The Port of Los Angeles broke records last month, posting the busiest April in its 114 year history, which may explain surging demand for dry van capacity in recent weeks.
- For the first time, Pendleton, Ore., is on our coldest markets list twice — as the least profitable market in the coming week for both reefer and dry van loads.
- The Pendleton, Ore., reefer market favors shippers by a ratio of three to one on inbound loads and four to one on outbound loads.
- Shreveport, La., projected to be one of the best dry van markets for truckers this week, is home to the Port of Caddo-Bossier, an inland multi-modal transportation and distribution center that connects domestic and international markets through the Mississippi River and Gulf Intracoastal Waterway.
- Current demand for dry van capacity in and out of Jonesboro, Ark., is three times higher than it was at this time last year.
