Happy Friday and welcome to your Memorial Day weekend edition of Trucker Tools’ “Where’s the Freight?,” your place to find out where demand for trucks will be high and low over the coming week.

As we head into Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start of summer, demand for trucks, especially spot market dry van, remains high and isn’t expected to cool off for good any time soon. In today’s “Where’s the Freight?,” you’ll notice that four of the top five most profitable markets are expected to be dry van markets in the coming week, with Miami’s dry van market once again projected to be the highest demand market in the nation. Demand for reefer capacity to and from Portland, Ore., is expected to be high over the next five to seven days, while Atlanta’s dry van market is likely to remain one of the lowest demand markets in the country.

In honor of Memorial Day, we’re remembering all of those who have sacrificed their lives in service to this great nation. Have a safe and restful weekend, everyone.

Where Demand for Trucks Will Be High or Rising

  • Demand and rates for reefer capacity are projected to be high this week to and from Portland, Ore. Expect demand for reefer to increase this week inbound to and outbound from Houston.
  • Miami, San Antonio, Columbus, Ohio, and Brooklyn, N.Y., will be the most profitable dry van markets for truckers and carriers over the next five to seven days. Demand for dry van is likely to increase this week to/from Washington D.C., Nashville, Tenn., Ft. Wayne, Ind., and St. Cloud, Minn.

Where Demand for Trucks Will Be Low or Falling

  • For dry van, you’ll want to avoid loads to and from Atlanta, Knoxville, Tenn., Cleveland, Indianapolis and Buffalo, N.Y., over the next five to seven days, as these are expected to be the lowest-demand markets in the nation this week.
