Happy Friday, y’all, and welcome to your end-of-week edition of “Where’s the Freight?,” Trucker Tools’ free freight report for owner operators and carriers.

Over the next five to seven days, the Mobile, Ala., power only market is projected to be the hottest freight market across the United States and Canada, with demand expected to be double what it was during the same week in 2021. In the coming week, Texarkana, Texas, is likely to see very high demand and rates for both reefer and flatbed freight. Speaking of refrigerated freight, you’ll notice in today’s freight report that two different Arkansas markets crack today’s Top Five Hottest Markets list, coming in at numbers four and five in our Top Five. If you run dry van, you’ll want to avoid loads inbound to and outbound from Dodge City, Kan., this week, as dry van demand and rates are likely to be extremely low.

Where Demand/Rates Will Be Highest or Rising This Week

  • Flatbed demand and rates for Texarkana, Texas, are likely to be very high.
  • Reefer demand and rates for Texarkana, Texas, Fayetteville, Ark., and Jonesboro, Ark., are projected to be very high. Reefer demand to/from Tucson, Ariz., Decatur, Ala., and Grand Junction, Colo., is likely to increase.
  • Power only demand and rates for Mobile, Ala., are projected to remain extremely high. Power only demand to/from Montgomery, Ala., and Jackson, Miss., is likely to rise.

  • Flatbed demand and rates for Brooklyn, N.Y., are expected to remain low.
  • Reefer demand and rates for Pittsburgh and Cheyenne, Wyo., will be extremely low. Reefer demand to/from Ithaca, N.Y., is likely to decline.
  • Power only demand and rates for Wichita, Kan., are expected to be very low. Power only demand for Savannah, Ga., is projected to decline.
  • Dry van demand and rates for Dodge City, Kan., are likely to remain low.
