Welcome to the newest edition of “Where’s the Freight?,” Trucker Tools’ free freight market report for owner operators and carriers. This week, power only and flatbed demand will be particularly strong in several U.S. and Canadian markets including Portland, Ore., Texarkana, Texas, and Regina, Saskatchewan. As for refrigerated freight, Tucson, Ariz., will remain a hot spot in the coming week, while Billings, Mont., is expected to see extremely low demand for reefer capacity this week. Over the next five to seven day period, you’ll want to avoid dry van loads to/from Regina, Saskatchewan, as demand and rates are projected to be extremely low.

Where Demand and Rates Will Be High or Rising This Week
Flatbed demand and rates for Texarkana, Texas, will continue to be high. Flatbed demand for Texarkana, Texas, Rapid City, S.D., and Regina, Saskatchewan, is projected to increase.
Reefer demand and rates for Tucson, Ariz., will remain elevated. Reefer demand to/from Dodge City, Kan., is expected to increase.
Power only demand and rates for Portland, Ore., Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Fort Wayne, Ind., are likely to be high. Power only demand for Norfolk, Va., is projected to increase.
Where Demand and Rates Will Be Low or Falling This Week
Reefer demand and rates for Billings, Mont., and Pittsburgh will remain extremely low.
Power only demand and rates for Richmond, Va., and Springfield, Mass., are expected to be very low. San Diego and Portland, Maine, are likely to see declines in demand for power only capacity.
Dry van demand and rates for Regina, Saskatchewan, are projected to be low.

According to federal data, the 10 most dangerous states to drive in are: 10. Oklahoma, 9. Tennessee, 8. Wyoming, 7. Louisiana, 6. Kentucky, 5. New Mexico, 4. Montana, 3. South Carolina, 2. Arkansas, and 1. Mississippi.
The Texarkana, Texas, flatbed market is expected to see a significant increase in demand this week and will favor fleets and drivers by more than two to one, meaning for each flatbed headed into the area there should be at least two loads available.
