Where’s the Freight? Spokane, Texarkana, New Castle and San Diego To See High Demand This Week

Over the next five to seven day period, demand for reefer and power only capacity will remain strong in several freight markets across the United States and Canada. The Spokane, Wash., reefer market enters our Top Five Hottest Markets list today, grabbing the number one spot. In fact, demand for reefer capacity inbound to and outbound from Spokane this week is projected to be two times higher than it was during the same week in 2021. In the coming week, you also can expect increases in demand for flatbed capacity to/from Dodge City, Kan., and for reefer capacity to/from Texarkana, Texas. Once again, New Castle, Del., will remain a hot spot for power only loads this week, while Calgary, Alberta, will continue to see extremely low demand and rates for dry van freight.
Where Demand/Rates Will Be Highest or Rising This Week
Flatbed demand and rates for Texarkana, Texas, are projected to be high. Flatbed demand to/from Dodge City, Kan., and Texarkana, Texas, likely will rise.
Reefer demand and rates for Spokane, Wash., and Texarkana, Texas, are expected to be extremely high. Demand for reefer capacity inbound to and outbound from Texarkana, Texas, and Jonesboro, Ark., is projected to increase.
Power only demand and rates for New Castle, Del., and San Diego likely will be high.
Dry van demand and rates for Gary, Ind., are expected to increase.
Where Freight Demand/Rates Will Be Lowest or Falling This Week
Flatbed demand and rates for Washington D.C. and Corpus Christi, Texas, are likely to be low. Flatbed demand to/from Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Gary, Ind., is projected to decline.
Reefer demand and rates for Montreal, Quebec, will be very low.
Power only demand and rates for Stockton, Calif., will remain low.
Dry van demand and rates for Calgary, Alberta, will continue to be extremely low.

Market To Watch: Demand for power only capacity to/from San Diego this week is projected to be three times higher than it was during the same week in 2021. This market also will favor fleets and owner operators by more than three to one in the coming week.
The Texarkana, Texas, reefer market will favor carriers and drivers by more than three to one this week, meaning there should be at least three loads available to every refrigerated trailer going into and out of the region.
