Based on the latest data from Trucker Tools’ platforms, we’re forecasting that the Texarkana, Texas, flatbed market will be the highest demand freight market in North America this week. Also notable in today’s market report is that demand for reefer capacity is projected to increase in the coming week for two major Canadian markets, as well as for one region of Washington state. In the coming week, you can expect demand to be relatively high in one Indiana dry van market, while Tallahassee, Fla., is projected to be the coldest power only market in North America this week.

Best Markets for Truckers and Carriers
- Texarkana, Texas, once again is projected to be the highest demand flatbed market this week. Flatbed demand is expected to rise this week inbound to and outbound from Fayetteville, Ark., and Edmonton, Alberta.
- In the coming week, Medford, Ore., and Edmonton, Alberta, will be the highest demand/highest rate reefer markets in North America. Reefer demand is expected to increase this week for Edmonton, Alberta, Spokane, Wash., and Southwestern Ontario.
- Demand for dry van capacity to/from Gary, Ind., will be high this week.
Worst Markets for Truckers and Carriers
- This week Edmonton, Alberta, and El Paso, Texas, likely will be the lowest demand flatbed markets in North America. Demand for flatbed is expected to decrease this week for Rapid City, S.D.
- You may want to think twice about accepting reefer loads to/from Billings, Mont., and Hartford, Conn., in the coming week, as reefer demand will be extremely low in both regions. Reefer demand is projected to decline this week for Vancouver, British Columbia.
- In the coming week, Tallahassee, Fla., will be the lowest demand and lowest rate power only market in North America. You also can expect power only demand/rates to decrease this week inbound to and outbound from Knoxville, Tenn.

- According to Trucker Tools’ data, the five best freight markets for truckers and carriers this week will be: 1. Texarkana, Texas (flatbed), 2. Medford, Ore. (reefer), 3. Gary, Ind. (dry van), 4. Edmonton, Alberta (reefer), and 5. Southwestern Ontario (flatbed).
- The five worst freight markets for truckers and carriers will be: 1. Billings, Mont. (reefer), 2. Hartford, Conn. (reefer), 3. Tallahassee, Fla. (power only), 4. Edmonton, Alberta (flatbed), and 5. El Paso, Texas (flatbed).
- The latest Daily Market Update from FreightWaves indicates that national outbound tender rejections and volumes are down slightly.
- This week demand for reefer capacity inbound to and outbound from Medford, Ore., is projected to be three times higher than it was during the same week in 2020.
- The inbound Gary, Ind., dry van market favors carriers by more than two to one, meaning for each dry van headed into the area, there likely will be at least two loads available.
- The latest Logistics Managers’ Index finds that the rate at which transportation capacity contracted increased in the month of September.
- Overstretched ocean networks and port congestion are causing some companies like Coca-Cola to use bulk cargo vessels instead of containers to move products and materials.
