Welcome to your mid-week edition of “Where’s the Freight?,” Trucker Tools’ free freight market report for fleets and drivers. In this and every edition of “Where’s the Freight?,” you’ll discover where demand and rates are projected to be high, low, increasing and decreasing over the next five to seven days.

As we look ahead to the next week, you can expect extremely high demand for flatbed capacity inbound to and outbound from Texarkana, Texas. The region is known as a manufacturing center for lumber products, mobile homes, municipal hardware, railroad tank cars, sand and gravel, which is likely driving elevated demand. In the coming week, you also can expect to see high demand for power only capacity for New Castle, Del., as well as an uptick in demand for power only capacity inbound to and outbound from Savannah, Ga., and Denver. If you run reefer, you’ll want to monitor the Ithaca, N.Y., reefer market in the coming week, as demand is projected to increase significantly.

Where Freight Demand/Rates Will Be Highest or Rising This Week

  • Flatbed demand and rates for Texarkana, Texas, will remain very high. Demand for flatbed capacity to/from Huntington, W.Va., is likely to increase.
  • Reefer demand and rates for Texarkana, Texas, will be relatively high. Demand for reefer capacity to/from Ithaca, N.Y., and Dodge City, Kan., is expected to rise.
  • Power only demand and rates for New Castle, Del., and Philadelphia are likely to be elevated. Power only demand to/from Savannah, Ga., and Denver is expected to increase.
  • Dry van demand and rates for Ithaca, N.Y., will be somewhat elevated.

Where Freight Demand/Rates Will Be Lowest or Falling This Week

  • Flatbed demand and rates for Springfield, Mass., and Edmonton, Alberta, are expected to be very low.
  • Reefer demand and rates for Billings, Mont., are likely to be low. Reefer demand to/from Toronto, Ontario, is projected to decline.
  • Power only demand and rates for Toledo, Ohio, and Stockton, Calif., likely will be extremely low.
