Where’s the Freight? Tucson, Fort Wayne, Texarkana, Corpus Christi and Savannah Hottest Markets for Truckers and Carriers This Week

Welcome to the mid-week edition of Trucker Tools’ “Where the Freight?,” your source for info on where demand and rates are likely to be high and low over the next five to seven days. With the July 4th U.S. Independence Day holiday upcoming, it should come as no surprise that a Southwestern reefer market is projected to be the top market for owner operators and carriers this week. In today’s edition of “Where’s the Freight?,” power only and reefer dominate our Top Five Hottest Markets List, while one lone Texas flatbed market holds steady in our top five. Also of note in today’s edition, West Coast port congestion continues to push freight to the East Coast and Hartford, Conn., remains one of the least profitable reefer markets in North America.

Read on to find out which markets you should target this week to maximize your profits and which markets you may want to avoid to minimize your losses in this Wednesday edition of Trucker Tools’ “Where’s the Freight?”

Where Demand Will Be High or Rising

  • If you’re running flatbed, you may want to makeTexarkana, Texas, a priority, as it’s projected to be the highest-demand flatbed market in North America this week. You can expect demand/rates for flatbed to increase this week to/from Shreveport, La.
  • Tucson, Ariz., and Savannah, Ga. will be the best reefer markets in North America over the next five to seven days. Look for reefer demand to increase this week to/from Dodge City, Kan., and Flagstaff, Ariz.
  • Fort Wayne, Ind., and Corpus Christi, Texas, will be the highest-demand power only markets for truckers/carriers this week. Demand for power only is projected to rise this week for Jonesboro, Ark., and Wichita, Kan.

Where Demand Will Be Low or Falling

  • Demand for flatbed capacity inbound to and outbound from Brooklyn, N.Y., Spokane, Wash., and Washington D.C. will be extremely low in the coming week.
  • Demand/rates for reefer capacity will be very low over the next five to seven days to/from Hartford, Conn., and Eastern Ontario.
  • You can expect demand and rates for power only capacity to decline this week for Norfolk, Va., Miami and Denver.

  • According to the latest Trucker Tools’ data, the five most profitable markets for truckers and carriers this week will be: 1. Tucson, Ariz. (reefer), 2. Fort Wayne, Ind. (power only), and 3. Texarkana, Texas (flatbed), 4. Corpus Christi, Texas (power only), and Savannah, Ga. (reefer).
  • The five least profitable markets for truckers and carriers this week will be: 1. Brooklyn, N.Y. (flatbed), 2. Hartford, Conn. (reefer), 3. Spokane, Wash. (flatbed), 4. Washington D.C. (flatbed) and 5. Eastern Ontario (reefer).
  • You can expect demand for reefer capacity inbound to Tucson, Ariz., to remain very strong through the end of this week.
  • According to the U.S Department of Agriculture’s most recent Imports of Agricultural Products report, volumes of fresh produce crossing the border at Nogales, Ariz., were up nearly 16 percent compared with 2020.
  • This week demand for power only capacity to/from Fort Wayne, Ind., is projected to be five times higher than it was at the same time last year.
  • The Texarkana, Texas, flatbed market will favor truckers/carriers by more than two to one over the next five to seven days.
